4.0 out of 5 stars Good tool, May 9, 2010

Works as expected.

I used it to close a Skagen 233XSMM after replacing the battery. None of the local jewelry dealers wanted to touch it, they all claimed that the crystal is to easy to break. I didn't have any problems closing it with this tool.

There are instructions on line, look for "Watch repair tool guide" under "Little David." Make sure you use the appropriate dies and that the watch is properly seated on the bottom die (look from above, make sure the die and the watch are centered). There is significant friction between the handle and the base (this is why I gave it ONLY 4 stars) so you have to be careful while applying pressure.

I read Mary Ellyn Nord's review before buying this tool and it took me a while to decide to buy it. I don't have a 25 years experience, this is my first watch I closed with a press, but my experience with this tool is so different.

I recently discovered that our local jewelry stores no longer will replace a watch battery. I suppose so many folks have made them replace a watch because of damage. I bought this tool just so I could replace my own batteries without fear of breaking our watches and it works fine. There are several different sized dies that will proably fit almost any watch, and unless you force something there is almost no fear of damaging your watch. You still need a tool to remove the back but this is now an easy 2-minute operation. The tool is well made and is simple to use, there are no instructions included but it it probably meant for pros besides it it all just common sence. The shipping was quick and item arrived in good condition.

1.0 out of 5 stars watch case press wth nylon dies, March 4, 2010

This item was sent back. It was terrible. I have one that is 25 years old with metal dies. I thought the nylon would be better for watch repairs. I could not get even a thin watch between the dies. the lever would not go up enough. I tried with several watches. It was useless.
