So if you are looking for a plug-in lamp that you can switch on and off, you will have to buy the cord switch and 2-prong plug from Home Depot or other home repair store so that you can convert it. The wire at the end is already exposed for the plug, so you won't need wire strippers, and the cord switch that I got did not require them either, but I did need wire cutters to cut the smooth part of the cord, instructions are givin with the plug & switch and are easy to follow.
