5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT all around Durable SNOWSHOE, November 4, 2010
This review is from: Redfeather Conquest Snowshoe with Summit binding (Misc.)
What a great snowshoe. UPDATED review.

It says it is for use up to 175lbs, I weigh 209 lbs and it works great for me. They are compact and easy to use.

I was a little worried the binding would not lock down on smaller cross country boots, but the straps work very good and are easy to use.

Super light and extremely durable, when the snow builds up on the bottom of the frame a couple of shoe slaps clear it out.

PROS:
Made in USA
Recyclable Nylon Frame
Easy binding -UPDATED RED BINDING ROCKS ratchet bindings are tabs break.
Easy to walk not bulky
Wide range of people can use

Cons:
Snow build up

UPDATE: Redfeather solved a problem that was in the original style I own, now they have a stand up binding that stays up easier to put on when you are cold...(almost always)

Overall 5 Stars....

4.0 out of 5 stars a cold weather bargain, April 3, 2011

It's hard to find any winter recreation that doesn't stress your budget, but this is one. especially at the price I bought these for from amazon. for the price, I'd say that these are one of the best deals going. I've seen videos where people show how to make your own snowshoes, but at this price, you'd have to be crazy, unless you just want the experience of doing a homemade pr. I would not recommend the standard pr., but the conquest has the newer binding, which is one of the simplest and most user friendly systems I've seen. you can literally put on these snowshoes in less than 1 minute. we'll see how durable they are as time goes by, but for now, this new concept in snowshoe design is winning me over. Not necessarily the best for deep powder, but here on the east coast, where the snow is often icy and hard, they are sweet.

I got these to go to Dolly Sods West Virginia. There was anywhere from a foot to three of snow on the ground, with an icy layer about 5 inches down. I hadn't used snow shoes before, but these made it easy to learn. The bindings are easy to figure out, and stayed in place well. The spikes on the bottom helped immensely going up hills and across slopes. The next day the weather was substantially warmer - above freezing - and the snow got soft and started clumping in the bottom of the snow shoes. My buddy had a pair of MSR snow shoes that didn't do this nearly so badly. Every few steps I had to hit the shoe on the ground or a tree to get snow out.
These snow shoes are great. Just not in wet snow.
